In the timeless town of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family navigate love, oblivion, and the inevitability of their past and destiny. This is Netflix’s most expensive Latin American project to date, with Colombian groups and indigenous peoples building the props and sets for the series. It’s pure joy to watch this cinematic Colombian marvel. The screen adaptation exceeded my expectations and removed any fears of potentially disastrous attempts to make a decent film out of such a cold "unscripted" novel. It seems completely authentic and magical to my eyes. Bravo to the Colombian authors and the Colombian crew for a very attentive, careful, and sensitive adaptation [of one of the most beautiful novels ever written! The cinematography is excellent and shows the beauty of Colombia very vividly. The costumes, colonial architecture, building interiors and carefully selected musical score combine to create an unforgettable atmosphere of Colombian magic in every detail. "One Hundred Years of Solitude" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month. Check out our December calendar for more!
